Graduation Requirements

A Webster City High School Graduate must earn 50 semester credits
The following specific courses are required to be successfully completed

ENGLISH: 8 credits

English 9

English 10

English 11 (will become an elective for the class of 2030)

Two (2) semesters of an elective English course
 

MATH: 6 credits

Specific questions can be directed to a math instructor.

Students may be moved to other classes based on success in understanding and application of standards with teacher approval
 

Option 1 (This path is suggested  for students who are planning to attend a 4 year college program, 2 year college program, or trade school):

Algebra 1

Geometry

Algebra II, Advanced Algebra II or College Prep Math 

College Prep Math is not accepted Algebra II credit for some universities. If planning to attend this type of program beyond high school, Algebra II will need to be taken.

Check with your college to ensure what they accept.

 

Option 2 : This path is for students who are planning to attend a 2 year college program, trade school, or enter the workforce after high school.

Foundations of Algebra A

Foundations of Algebra B

Foundations of Geometry

College Prep Math

 

SCIENCE: 6 credits

Biology

Chemistry (full year) OR Applied Science (1 semester) + 1 science elective

Physics (full year) OR Conceptual Physics (1 semester) + 1 science elective
 

SOCIAL STUDIES: 6 credits

9th - Geography or AP Human Geography

10th - U.S. History or ICCC U.S. History

World Studies (Class 2026 and 2027 this fulfills the Geography requirement)

Government (one semester)

Economics (one semester)
 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: 4 credits

One (1) semester each year

Students involved in 2 or more seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring) in a qualifying sport or activity may “opt out” of PE through an application process.
 

ELECTIVES: 20 credits
