Principal Message

As I reflect on my first year as principal of Webster City High School, I am filled with gratitude and optimism. This past school year provided countless opportunities to learn about our students, staff, families, and community, and I could not be more excited about the future of WCHS.

Throughout the year, our students and staff achieved many successes both inside and outside the classroom. We celebrated academic accomplishments, athletic achievements, fine arts performances, career and technical education opportunities, and the many ways our students represented Webster City with pride. These accomplishments are a direct result of dedicated educators, supportive families, and students who continue to rise to challenges and pursue excellence.

At Webster City High School, student safety remains the cornerstone of everything we do. We believe students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and connected. Our commitment to maintaining a positive, secure learning environment allows students to explore their interests, take academic risks, and pursue meaningful opportunities, including career exploration, college coursework, work-based learning experiences, and extracurricular involvement.

We also believe that a student's connection to school is strengthened through participation. Whether through athletics, fine arts, clubs, leadership opportunities, or other activities, we want every student to find a place to belong and become actively engaged in the total school experience. These experiences help students build relationships, develop skills, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

As we look ahead, we are beginning important conversations about potential high school improvements and renovations designed to enhance safety, expand access to technology, foster innovation, and create learning environments that better prepare students for the future. We are excited to explore opportunities that will strengthen learning both within and beyond the walls of our building.

Academically, we will continue our focus on student growth and proficiency while ensuring every student is challenged and supported. We are equally committed to recognizing and celebrating the strengths our students bring to our school community. One of those strengths is the growing diversity of our student population, including the many multilingual students whose experiences, perspectives, and talents enrich our classrooms and school culture.

I learned a tremendous amount during my first year in Webster City, and that learning has only strengthened my belief in the potential of this school and community. It is truly an honor to serve as principal of Webster City High School. I look forward to continuing our work together in year two and beyond as we build upon our successes and embrace new opportunities.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Webster City High School.

With appreciation and enthusiasm,

Jason S. Wedgbury
